Garment Alterations.

Bring us a suit that no longer fits, a dress that needs taking in, or a jacket inherited from someone you loved. We'll tell you honestly whether it can be saved.

The work

What we can do.

Alterations get a bad reputation because most shops chase volume and the result shows. We work the way the original tailor would have: we open the lining, we look at the seam allowances, and we plan the alteration so it doesn't read as one.

Jackets

  • Shortening or lengthening the sleeves (from the cuff or the shoulder)
  • Suppressing or releasing the waist
  • Reshaping the shoulder and re-setting the sleevehead
  • Replacing the lining or restoring a worn back
  • Reworking lapel width or roll

Trousers

  • Waist taken in or let out (up to 4cm either direction)
  • Seat reshape, leg taper, hem with or without cuff
  • Side-strap or button-fly conversion

Shirts & dresses

  • Side-seam and yoke adjustments on shirts; cuff re-set
  • Bodice, waist and skirt reshape on dresses; sleeve length and depth of armhole
  • Restoring bridal cheongsams — including silk repair and re-embroidery

When we'll say no

If the garment has been fused (glued) on the inside, we'll usually say so. Fused garments can be tightened in spots but they cannot be properly re-cut. If the cloth has thinned or the seam allowance is insufficient, we'll explain why a re-make would be more honest than an alteration. You'll never be charged for the assessment.

Timeline & price

Most alterations are delivered in two to three weeks. Simple jobs (hems, sleeve length, single seam) start at RM 120. Whole-jacket re-cuts and lining replacements range from RM 380 to RM 950. We quote each piece in person after the assessment.

Bring it in

The first opinion is free.

Drop your garment off — or come in with it during opening hours. We'll examine it on the long table and tell you what's possible, what isn't, and what we'd suggest.
